The recent amendments in the Foods Act (”FA”) were published in the special 59th edition of the State Gazette dated July 31, 2010. According to the newly introduced Par. 4 of Art. 12 of the FA, the food manufacturers must submit a declaration, certificating the presence or absence of any additives, produced from GMO, in the foods. The declaration is to be enclosed to the application under Art. 12, Par. 3 for registration of a food production facility/site. Already registered manufacturers should submit this declaration within 6 months as from the entering into force of the FA according to § 19, Par. 1 of the Transitional and Closing provisions of the Law amending the FA.
