Mandatory re-registration of non-profit legal entities in the new register at the Registry Agency

The Law on Amending and Supplementing the Non-Profit Legal Entities Act (“the NPLEA”) was just recently promulgated. It will enter into force on 1st of January 2018. The law provides for the establishment of a Council for the development of civil society with the Council of Ministers and, also, imposes some new requirements regarding the procedural aspects and the content of the circumstances and acts due to entry in the files of non-profit organisations. The major change in the NPLEA is the introduction of a Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities with the Registry Agency to the Ministry of Justice (“the Register”).

The legislative changes, subject to the present article, are aiming at improvement of incorporation, registration, organization, operation and termination of non-profit legal entities and introduce significant alterations in the existing procedures.
