The Economic Policy Committee of the National Assembly is discussing the approved by the Council of Ministers Law on Protection of Competition Bill. The Bill guarantees more effective protection of the freedom of business initiative and the participation of Bulgaria in the decentralized implementation of the European Competition Law.
The new provisions include a change of the method for determining the pecuniary sanctions for the law violations – the amount shall be a percentage of the total turnover of the respective offensive enterprise for the previous financial year. Also new are the provisions for unfair competition, imitation of domain or internet site, the order for misleading or comparing advertising, which fully conforms to the requirements of Directive 2006/114/ЕC.
