After obtaining registration of two EU trademarks the client wanted to expand the protection in China. For this purpose, we did a preliminary research of prior registered and applied trademarks. Subsequently we initiated the registration of the marks.
The client owns and manages a business related to metal casting, metal moulds, casting machines and parts in Europe. Due to the specifics of China market and registration procedure we contacted a local IP law firm in China to provide additional advice on the matter. We advised the client on the potential risks of lack of distinctiveness or due to similarity of prior marks. We managed and participated in the whole procedure from the research to the application process.
